Our Story

Zero Marine Bigg City was founded in 1914 by Ruben Rosillo Zero, affectionatly known as the first Captain Zero by the ships and sailors of Bigg City.

Zero Marine was initially founded as a indpendant Tugbat Operator on April 24th 1914 after the dissision to dissolve the previous company Zero, Star, and Associates was forced by Johnathan Star (known to the harbour as Captain Star). On July 28th, 1914, by court order the assets of Zero, Star and Associates where dissolved into a mutual cohabitataion trust and Zero Marine Bigg City was formally incorperated.

On june 20th 1917, Ruben Zero was drafted in the first world and left his home town of Bigg City to serve as a medic on the western front, leaving his mother, Helen Zero, as acting captain from June 21st 1917 to Jan 11th 1918 when he was re assigned as an acting civillian officer working directly with the Bigg City Harbour Board.

Through the 1920s Zero Marine held strong as a profitable and essential part of Bigg City Port, in 1922 upgrading Zaffre, Zero Marine No 6, to a oil burning fuel sytem and in 1923 converting Zak, Zero Marine No 3, to the first internal conbustion powered tugboat in Bigg City. The rest of the 1920s saw the modernization of Zero Marines work force, removing the need for coal from the fleet in 1930 and having all ships run on internal combustion in 1934.

In the Second World War, Ruben Zero was placed as commisioner of the Bigg City Harbour Board. In December 1947 Zero Marine published the first issue of Downhual Magazine, the following May, 1948, Ruben Zero retired, placing Zasha Sadie Zero as the new Captain Zero.

In 1951 Zero Marine bought out a new Tugboat Company in Maine, USA, moving into a new state for operations. This was followed by in 1954 Zero Marine bought out Star and Tug and Marine, making the Zero Fleet the only fleet remaining in Bigg City.

Through the following Decades Zero MArine bought out new Comapnies in Bailymore, Norland, Filmoreson, Docksmore, Port Apple, Miami, san Juan and more.

In July of 1987, Zasha Zero retired from her post as Captain, leaving the role to Zorra Zero. And in 2007, Due to unforseen emeregncies, Zorra Zero stepped down unexspectedly leaving Zip No. 5 in interum charge of the company untill Maxwell Roseillo Zero Jr could take over as Captain.

Proudly in 2018, Zero Marine reitegrated it's enviromental recovery division.

The Bigg City Harbour Board

On Janurary First, 1863, the Bigg City Harbour Board was formed with the intent to organize shipping traffic, dig and maintain canals in bigg city, and organize the river mouth system.

In 1869, the harbour board finished there larget works project, the Bigg City Bridge, known locally as simply 'The Bridge'. The following year in 1870, the board was put in charge of all port development in our region, including up river and down the coast stops.

In 1899, the Unted States Federal Government grants funding to many ports up and down the east coast, Bigg City is chosen for our region and starts intensive dredging work in bigg city and smaller ports up river and along our coast. In 1918 the harbour board officially recognizes Ruben Zero as a permanant officer serving the board.

In 1922, the coast guard and harbour board establish Zero Marine as an official emergency contact point for distressed ships and secure all radio frequence rights in Bigg City for Maritime Emergencies. Later in 1924 Zero Marine and the Harbour board establish a Maritime VHF station for incoming distress calls via ship.

In 1933 the harbour board over see's the builing of a second and thrid bridge system over Bigg City Port. These two interconnected bridges are locally refered to as the 'Portal bridge'.

In december of 1941, the Harbour board installed Ruben Zero as the temporary indefeinate commisoner of the board and as a civilian organization stratagist in case the unthinkable where to happen in the second great war.

In 1945, the board commisioned the openeing of Naval museum in Bigg City, enlisting uss Bluenose as the ship to host the Museum. In 1949, Sunshine, a former Star Tug and MArine Ship, was the first ship purchased in full by the Harbour board as a utility ship, spesifically working as an ice breaker in the colder months and late in 50 converted Sunshine to diesel power.

In 1954, the Harbour board helps establish the Bigg City Maritime Mueseum, putting OJ in as the first installation and later hireing Captain Star as the first full time currator and ship carer of the museum.

In 1963, Warrior is purchased as salvage and rebuilt with a diesel engine and put on as a utility ship for santation services. In 66 USS Gaampus is donated to the Naval museum and Maritime Museum and a joint installation.

In 75, Hercules is donated to the maritime museum.

in 09, Lillie is donated to the maritime museum.

in 2013 Sunshine is semi retired and put into auxillary storage at the maritime museum.

Star Tug and Marine

Star Tug and Marine was formed on April 11th, 1914 by Captain Johnathan Sulivan Star.

On July 28th, 1914, by court order the assets of Zero, Star and Associates where dissolved into a mutual cohabitataion trust and Star Tug and Marine gained a profit share on Zero Marine no 1 Zorran.

In WW1 Captain Star was given a medical exemption from the draft and remained in big city working to help war efforts on the home front.

In late 1922 Star Tug and Marine installed emergency radio and marine VHF into its ocean going vessles.

In 1933, Star tug and Marine hired on Zasha S. Zero as a dock hand and sailors apprentice.

In 1942 Star tug and marine in conjunction with the harbour board upgrades Top Hat No. 4 to internal combustion.

In 1954, Captain Star retires and sells his company to Zero Marine.

The Zero Family

The Zero Family started humbly when Ya'aqov Sutro immigrated in 1885 to Bigg city, his name being altered at Peter Island to Jacob Zero.

Jacob Was a tailor and dress maker. He quickly met and Married a tailor named Helen Acker (of Acker Wine Family fame)

they where married on May 9th 1885. On the 5th of June, 1885, Zero Tailors, Dressmakers, and Dry Cleaning is opened.

After a close call with Helen's health, the Zero Family adopts their first and only child Ruben Rosiello Zero (born January 1st 1891) on the 21st of January 1891.

Ruben would grow up to contract Polio, followed my measels, leaving him a sick man. In the late 1910's, Ruben became involved in organized crime. By 1914, Ruben was involved deeply with the Bigg City Crime Syndecate and forever tied into a life of crime, getting involved with historically known smugglers such as Johnny cuba and. After founding Zero Star and Accociates and then re incorperating into Zero Marine Bigg City, Ruben would adjust his sights onto making the smuggling trade safe and profitable for both his ships and himself. Durring the first World War, Ruben Zero would serve as a Medic on the Western Front befre being recalled to Bigg City and placed on the harbour board as a civilian officer. Zero would spend the rest of his life working on Harbour projects in various roles sich as Harbour Board Commisioner, Port Authorty officer, Martime Museum president and curator.

On april 1st, 1920, Ruben Adopts his first and only daughter Zasha Sadie Zero. Zasha would grow up to work for Star Tug and Marine as a trainee seaman and dock hand, Lucky's Yard as a mechanic and yard supervisor durring the second world war, authour and publisher, as well as taking over the reigns of Zero Marine's Captain in 1948.

Zasha would end up having 4 children, Zorra Zero, Zachary Zero, Zebediah Zero, and Zipporah "Rory" Zero.

Most notibly Zorra would take over as Captain of Zero Marine in 1987, Zachary is a known polotician whose severed the Harbour board of Bigg City many terms, Zebediah has gone to race and win several ranked championships as a professonal Stock Car driver, and Rory has stayed in the Family Tailoring business.

Currently in 2024, Zorra's youngest child, Maxwell, is serving as Captain of Zero Marine, while her oldest, MAriana is working as a CEO in the Bigg City Publishing industry. Jacob, Zebediah's son followed his steps as a Stock car driver, and his older sister Sadieh as been serving as a house Represenitive for Bigg City for 4 terms. Zacary's daughter Georgia has been working as an authour and His son Ruben has been working as a Investor in Bigg City Bussinesses. and Lastly Rory's only daughter, Zaffer, is following in her parents footsteps and working as a Tailor.
